Welcome to Kindergarten
Welcome to School!
I am so excited to see all that God has in store for us this year. What a blessing to work with your children and to get to know each of you as parents.
I will be sending home a communication folder with your child. Please be sure to keep this folder in your child’s backpack. It will allow us to send messages back and forth. You can also contact me via e-mail ( [email protected] ). Please also note that I will be sending home updates to your home e-mail address. If your e-mail changes please be sure to let me know.
Be sure to label all of your child’s outdoor clothing, mittens, boots etc. Some kids have the same coats and it can be somewhat confusing.
Your child will be very tired the first month of Kindergarten, please try to get them to bed early the night before school days. As the year progresses they will become more able to handle the long but fun day of learning.
We have some wonderful things planned for September. Our themes will be Shapes, Colors and Apples. I have sent home the calendar for September that will outline the special happenings on your child’s Kindergarten Days.
This month we will be working on writing and recognizing our name and the names of some of our classmates. Please be sure to reinforce the capital to start their names and the lower case letters to follow.
This month we will be:
-Learning the letters Aa, Bb, Cc
-Writing our Names
-Patterning colors and shapes
-Recognizing the numbers 1-5
-Making Apple Pie
-Making a rainbow of color with Fruit Loops
-Painting with apples
-Creating colors with food coloring and Science Droppers
-Playing with play dough
-Learning about Creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel
-Learning the routines of the classroom
The roster list will be sent home closer to the end of the month as we do not have parent helpers coming in until October. This gives us a chance to get to know the kids and establish the routines.
Please pray for the students that they will connect with their classmates and us as their teachers. We pray that they will have a special and exciting year as they enter the world of education.
Blessings,
Mrs. Jackie Watt
